Duke played Virginia Commonwealth on Friday and they were in for a unsupected surprise. VCU came out ready to play that day and it showed. Sophmore Eric Maynor had a steller performance. He put up 20 with nine of them being in the last minute and a half. He also scored the 15 foot jumper for the 79-77 victory. This is Mike Kryzewski’s(Duke’s Coach) first nonappearance in the sweet sixteen since the year 1996. His streak is known to be one of the longest in NCAA history. VCU coach quotes
“Were trying to be VCU”
He was an assistant coach for the Florida Gators when they won the NCAA championship last year. He was commenting on how well George Mason did last year and was saying that he’s trying to be a one of a kind. The VCU Rams have not had the privilege of most other teams in Division One because this is their first NCAA tournament victory since they beat Marshall in the year 1985. Coming off this steller victory, they will either face third-seeded Pittsburg or Wright State depending on the outcome. We give VCU the best of luck the rest of the way.
