Google Video Pins Youtube 1…2…3…

You may have noticed the entire lip sync competition has been added to the Newsblog. As you can see in the title and in the lip sync video, I used Google Video instead of Youtube. There are two big advantages to using Google video over Youtube. The first is that there is no size limit. The video file could be one gigabyte. It doesn’t matter. YouTube limits uploads to 100 megabytes. The other advantage of Google Video is that there is not a time limit on the video. Youtube videos have to ten minutes or under.

Continue to use Youtube for most of your video uploading needs, but if want bigger and longer videos, Google Video is the video uploading choice of the gods.

The process of embeding the video is basically the same. Instead of youtube=url you would put googlevideo=url (don’t forget the brackets as well). Just know that with bigger files come longer upload times. Hours maybe!! This option is for broadband only! Sorry 56ker’s!!

You will also need a login. The current student gmail address and password do not work for some reason so I made a new one specifically for the Newsblog.

Username: hchsnewsblog@gmail.com

Password: cyclones

You will also need to download GoogleVideo’s uploading tool. It is a free, easy download. Go here to get started: https://upload.video.google.com/

What’s strange about all this is that Google bought YouTube last year. So they are in competition with one another but both owned by the same company!
