Harlan Track Meet In LC

Many people know how anxious people can get for different evnts. Whether it would be sports, speech, or others that I can not think of. As for the few that don’t get anxious for events is the boys track team. On the way up everyone was laid back. Including myself even as the bus came to a halt and everybody exited on to the hard pavement. Shot and discus were the beginning events and the 4×4 was the closer.

Our A teams carried us through the meet but sometimes the people not so agile did contribute. For example, in one of the throwing events Tyler Stahl placed 2nd, but every track members knows you can not win on field events alone. So we came out strong winning numerous races. Our laid back attitude was carring us for most of the meet. In fact we were so far ahead at one point we were sure that we had the meet one. Only moments later when the announcer from LC did not announce our name first.

The whole team was astonished including the fans that came and supported us. We fell in second place behind Atlantic. Our over confidence hurt us as we may of not performed as well as we would. Yet this woke us up and realized for next week we would be ready. By Daniel Schaben
