I had the chance sit down and interview Anne Keane about the many organizations that she is involved with. Anne is very good about being a club leader and taking responsibility for many tasks that are involved. She keeps very busy with working and doing activities with the clubs that she is with. Let’s take a look at what Anne had to say about these organizations.
Q: What are some of the major organizations you are involved in?
A: I am involved with Student Council, Best Buddies, 4-H, Get-a-Grip, Jel, CYO, and NHS.
Q: Which organization do you consider to be the most fun? Which do you conisder to be the most rewarding? Why?
A: The organization I think is the most fun is Student Council because you get to work with the student body and get to put on a lot of activities. The organization I think is the most rewarding is Best Buddies because you actually get to work with someone and spend time with someone who may not be able to do things that we can do.
Q: What is the longest time frame that you have been in some of these organizations?
A: I have been in Student Council and 4-H for four years and I was also one of the key people in creating the Best Buddies organization.
Q: How will these organizations help you through the rest of your life? Why?
A: Well, because of Best Buddies I have decided to become a Special Ed teacher and because of Student Council it will help me become a better leader.
Q: What do you recommend for those who want to join some of these clubs or organizations?
A: Definitely get involved with everything you can, especially as freshman. You can make a lot of friends and even if you don’t know what the club or organization is about you can go to a meeting and see if you are interested.
Q: Which organization do you think is the most challenging?
A: Probably Get-a-Grip and Jel because you have to talk to kids about what drugs can do to you and you don’t want to be a false representative so you have to set good examples. In this club you are the biggest role model.
Q: Do some of these organizations comingle?
A: Student Council works with a lot of different clubs. It’s a mixture of everyone in it. Because they are all in different clubs and then they bring ideas back so we are using ideas from clubs like 4-H and even Best Buddies. So all of the school and outside of school clubs bring ideas in. It’s interesting to hear what other people bring to us, also.
So there you have it. If you are ever thinking of joining a club or organization outside of school, don’t be afraid to go to a meeting to see what it’s about to really find out if you are interested in joining. I also want to thank Anne because she is included in a bunch of organizations and she does very well with them. She’s not afraid to put herself out there and talk to kids about anything. If you ever have questions she is one of the best people that I know of that you can talk to anytime.
