You may have noticed my scroller bar on my website that says “Four Months Until School 2.0.” My goal the last four years was/is to make my classroom more open, flat, collaborative and technology driven. Here is a brief timeline of the evolution of my classroom into as more 21st Century classroom:
2003-Started a blog on Livejournal.com updating what we did in class each day
Take a look at my previous website: http://mrbruns.livejournal.com
Spring 2005-Started my current website. It was small and in beta.
Fall 2005-Incorporated my website completely into my classroom environment. At this point, I updated daily assignments and allowed students to download assignments and notes
Winter 2005/2006-Started using the chat room/message boards for communication on a very small scale. Started uploading powerpoints and podcasts to Ourmedia.org.
Fall 2006-Started the Collaboritive Connected Community phase of my website. My classroom became “flat”, that is, one that can be accessed at anythime anywhere in the world. Started my 24/7 chat room and incorporated wikis and especially blogs into my classroom. Collaboration of students was still in it’s infancy.
Winter 2006-Started my streaming podcasts and powerpoints directly from my website. Started the HCHS Newsblog which is a huge step in achieving School 2.0. Added a lot of widgets to my website offering a lot of options for my students.
So that leaves me to right now. Over the coming months, I will continue to update you on my goals and explain my vision for School 2.0.
More to come.
