Cody Petersen-On To State Tennis!! Boy’s Tennis-3rd at Districts!

The HCHS boy’s tennis team had by far, it’s best performance of this years tennis season today. The team finished in third place and remains alive for a possible birth at the state team tennis tournament later this month. The Cyclones take on the Atlantic Trojans tomorrow(Friday, May 11) at preliminary state for a chance to play at sub-state the following Saturday(May 19). Cody Petersen, Lucas Larsen, Ryan Andersen and Lincoln Stein all contributed valuable points in helping Harlan get third place or better for the fourth time in five years(at Districts). “I am very pleased with the entire team effort today. Cody and Lucas have led our team this year but a lot of credit goes to Lincoln and Ryan today in getting a victory at doubles and earning three big points for us as a team.”

Cody Petersen, who was seeded number one, ended winning the singles tournament earning a birth at the individual state tennis tournament on May 25-26. “With Beau Browning(Red Oak) and Jeff Williams(Clarinda) playing doubles, it really opened the door for Cody to step up and shine, and that is exactly what he did. Losing only one set all day, Cody played his best tennis of the year. Cody was extremely patient and consistent throughout his matches today but also was agressive when he had to be. I am very proud of Cody and am thrilled that he gets to participate at State Tennis.”
