I had the privilege to interview Andrew, one of the high school Destination Imagination members, about the upcoming global competition in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Q:What is your position on the team?
A: The Harlan DI Team is an extraordinarily fine-tuned machine of seven members. Each member has a specific job to do such as planning and building, or acting and script writing. My expertise happens to be in the area of planning and building.
Q: What goes on at a DI competition?
A: At a DI completion, teams from all over the state bring the best they have to offer. It is a very intense competition and winners will have bragging rights for the rest of the year. During the competition we are judged on how we present our play and how well our technical problems are worked out.
Q:What challenge is your team doing?
A: This year our team is doing the direct flight challenge. we have to be able to design and construct and airplane that can fly to a designated area.
Q:What did you have to do to earn your place in the global competition?
A: Well, this task of making the Global competiton is not as simple as it seems. Our team has put in many sleepless nights and very busy days. Much determination and will power has helped us make the trip possible.
Here are a few pictures of their last performance.
