Why do students go to football games?

This is Gabby7 and McDaniel7 for HCHS Newsblog. It seems like a pretty self explanatory question, doesn’t it? Why do students go to football games? Most would say they go to watch the game but we put some thought into it and decided to see why students really go. We interviewed some kids at Friday nights’ football game against Clarinda and we found out why most of them go. This is what they had to say.

Jeni Doonan:

Q: “Jeni, why is it that you attended the football game here tonight at Merrill Field?”
A: “Well, I came pretty much just to meet my friends and hang out with them, and because it was the last home game of the season.”

Amanda Scheuring:

Q: “Why did you decide to come to the football game tonight?”
A: “I came because I like to see my friends and hang out with them and because I like to watch the game.”

Michaela Leinen:

Q: “Why did you attend this football game tonight?”
A: “I came so I could see my friends and just have a good time with them.”

Dustin Kleffman:
Q: “Why did you decide to come to the game tonight?”
A: “I came to see my friends.”

Mandi Doonan:

Q: “Why did you decide to come to the football game tonight?”
A: "So I could see my friends and watch the football boys.”

Trisha Nowatzke:

Q:"Why did you come to the football game tonight?"
A: "Just because I wanted to see my friends."

Cheyenne Graeve:

Q: "Why did you come to the game tonight?"
A: "To be with my friends and just hang out"

Well, there you have it. In the end, we learned that not everyone goes to the football game to watch football. They go for various reasons, but mostly just to see their friends and hang out. We both also had a great time at the game even though we got a little wet from the rain, we had fun. But the rain didn’t stop the Cyclones from getting another win under their belt!
