The Old Market

It is that time of year again. People coming to your door caroling, baking Christmas goodies, trimming the tree. There is a long list of things to do before the holidays that we forget the beauty of Omaha. Around this time of year, volunteers light over 1 hundred trees to celebrate the meaning of Christmas. These people all do it in their spare time and in only a few days. I was in heels, but I took all the time I had to walk through the amazing glow of lights one cold night. I had never cared before, so, you may ask, why do you care now? I care because the meaning of Christmas is not the giving or the getting.....it's the loving. The people who decorated these trees love Omaha a lot and are willing to spare time to decorate for our enjoyment. So, the next time you are in Omaha, ask your parents if you can walk around the old market. You might find something you've never seen before.
