The Harlan Community High School was busy with many activites on February 8, 2008. With various basketball games and the excitment of the upcoming Valentine's dance that took place that night, but the most important one for some was the annual Soup and Song Supper. Many community members were present in the high schools cafeteria to enjoy soup and the entertainment of the vocal students.
VIP (Vocaly Interested Parents) were in charge of the supper. The Soup and Song is their biggest fundraiser throughtout the year. This year they wanted to bring in as much income as possible to help pay for the vocal student's upcoming trip to New York. As the ones who attended enjoyed their choice of chicken noodle or broccoli and cheese soup they also got the privilege to listen to the students who preformed for entertainment. The sudents who chose to preform enjoyed preparing and preforming the song(s) of their choice. We interviewed Jennifer Arkfeld and Stacy Temple who were just two of the many students who enjoyed preforming. Besides individual students preforming the 9th grade girls treble cleff choir also sang two of their concert pieces from the night before along with the men of the concert choir who also preformed their piece from the night before with the accompaniment of Rural Route's Bluegrass band.
Many enjoyed this event and can not wait for next year. We taped a few preformances of the event. We hope you enjoy it. A big thanks goes out to all who attened the event. We hope to see you all next year.
Respectfully Submitted,
