On feb. 3rd, the bluegrass band Rural Route gathered for thier last show at the VFW post #1 in Omaha. The band has been together, with the line up they have now, for 5 years. Each year, they play for the Great Planes Bluegrass Jam in omaha.
Galen Jeter, playing upright bass and singing lead, is at the head of the group. His wife Kitty and son Cory sing harmony. Kitty plays the mandoline and Cory plays guitar. A.R. Carbonell is the regular banjo player, also playing guitar. Not shown in the picture are Alan Rienpold (dobro and harmony vocals) and Denis Bateman (gutiar and vocals) were both sick at the time of the gathering. The band is dispanding due to the Jeter's upcoming move to tennessee this summer.
Every Month, the organization has a jam (Musical gathering where any musician can participate). A band, in this case RR, plays for one hour on stage, and then the jam starts. Two or three circles of musicians form in the large room. For the next couple of hours, music fills the venue.
This has been Colburn and Cory of 6th hour.
