Heavy rainfall resulted in a manure overflow into a tributary of the Mosquito River. The overly full manure basin at shomers brothers feedlot, caused massive erosion to the basin. Employees began pumping the basin into an irrigation system to prevent further damage. The shomers fixed the pipe leaks and attempted to fix the basin walls to prevent further overflows.
I think that it is a good thing that the Iowa DNR is cracking down on erosion from feedlots around Iowa. The menure could cause lots of damage to the rivers and streams they pollute.
