HCHS Defeat St. Albert's 8-1
The Harlan Community boy's tennis team evened their season record at 1-1 with a convincing 8-1 victory over St. Albert's on Monday, April 6. The Cyclones only loss came at #1 singles where Isaac Stitz lost to Travis Miller 1-8. "Isaac was not feeling well today so that had an impact but I will give a lot of credit to Travis Miller", Coach Chad Bruns said. "He outplayed Isaac today. I know Isaac can play better and will as the season progresses. He and Josh Cheek came out in doubles and played very well defeating Miller and Baer so it was nice to see Isaac and Josh get a great win today."
Michael Reuschenberg, Harlan's #4 player, was out today due to sickness. "When I found out that Michael was sick, I was concerned. When a player is gone, everyone has to move up in singles and doubles teams are affected as well," Bruns added. "It was nice to see everyone step up and play good tennis. Josh, Nolan, Kaleb, Alec and Eric all had convincing wins in singles and doubles. We are a young and inexperienced team so this win will give us confidence going forward."
The Cyclones travel to Thomas Jefferson on Tuesday, April 7 and host Denison on Thursday, April 9.
