For my news blog I interviewed my Uncle Roger Schwery. He is the owner of Custom Seed Service in Walnut, Iowa. Soon to be relocating to Panama, Iowa. He gave us a tour of the cleaning, weighing, and bagging process in his barn in Walnut.

Some things that I learned was that some of the machines sort by the length of the seed, and others separate by the texture of the seed. While drying the seed it doesn't always take one drying, it can take many times to completely dry.

When the seeds are planted it can take two up to seven years to be completely grown. During this process it may take 2 years just to sprout and the remaining years to grow. Some seeds are harvested by hand others are combined.
During my interview I learned a lot of new things about seeds and growing them.
