This is Evans2 for HCHS News. Deer hunting season has been underway for a couple of weeks now in Iowa. I have interviewed Roy Amerson, one of my dad’s friends and hunting buddies, about some of the equipment he uses and what he does with the deer he kills.
Q: What type of bow and arrow do you use?
A: I use a Matthew’s switch back bow. The arrows I use are Easton arrows with mechanical broad heads.
Q: What is your bow’s range?
A: 40 yards
Q: How high do you place your stand?
A: 15-20ft
Q: How many deer have you killed this season?
A: 2, one doe and one button buck.
Q: What do you do with the deer you kill?
A: I have the deer processed.
Q: What do you have it made into?
A: I have it made into jerky and steaks.
Q: Do you prefer to hunt with a bow or a gun? Why?
A: I prefer to hunt with a bow because there is a longer hunting season and it is more of a challenge.
Q: How long does the bow season last?
A: October 1st – November 30th and December 17th – January 10th
That is the interview. This is Evans2. Have a good day.
