Portsmouth 125th Anniversary

This year Portsmouth will be celebrating 125 years as a town. The main celebration will be held on July 27th, 28th, and 29th. On the 27th, the celebration wil be kicked off with an alumni dinner. Which will be followed by a dance on the baseball diamond. On Saturday a parade will be held around town. Also that day there will be mud-drags and garden tractor pulls. On the 29th, the celebration will start out with a town team baseball game. After the game there will be hot air balloons and sky divers. The town of Portsmouth would love to see you there.

From 1882 to 2007, Portsmouth has had some pretty exciting events in its history. There was a major tornado that hit in 1940. It killed all the animals and took many years to repopulate them. An outrageous amount of people helped the community recover from this tragedy. Baseball in Portsmouthhas been a very long standing tradition. In fact, it has the longest running amateur league baseball program in the nation. The bank has been robbed twice. Once in 1912, which they blew up the safe. And once in 1993, on July 12th. Now that you have been informed on alittle information about Portsmouth and its history, we INVITE you once more to the celebration this summer.
