Cyclones Take 5th at District Tennis-Cody Petersen On To State!

The Cyclones placed fifth at District Tennis on Thursday, May 8 in Red Oak. By not placing in the top three teams, the season is unfortunately over for most of the Cyclone tennis team. The bright spot of the day was Cody Petersen who placed second and made the Individual State Tennis Tournament for the second year in a row in singles. "I was very pleased with Cody's performance today overall, Coach Chad Bruns said. "Once again, he ran into Jeff Williams(Clarinda)in the finals and just could not win the big points, losing 1-6, 4-6. Pretty much all the games went to duece so it was a lot closer than the score indicates. I have to give a lot of credit to Williams. He is a tremendous player and earned the win. Fortunately, the top two players get to move on to State."

"I am pleased with how the season went. We finished with a winning record(5-4) and placed fourth at Conference. We also have a lot of good, young players coming back next year so there is a lot to look forward to in the future."
