HCHS Boy's Tennis Lose Opener to Denison

The HCHS boy's tennis team traveled to Denison on Monday, April 5 to take on the Monarchs. The Varisty lost the meet 1-8 and the JV lost 3-6.

The lone win came at #1 singles where Nate Pattee outlasted Denison's #1 Nick Ingram in a tiebreak, 11-10(7-3). "It was a great win for Nate P. today. He played very well in his singles and held on after having a 9-7 lead. Winning tiebreaks is a great confidence booster" Coach Chad Bruns said.

Unfortunately, the rest of the night did not go so well. The only other close match was Nick Petsche at #5 Singles where he lost 8-10. "It was nice to see Nick play well in his first varsity match. He came back to go up 8-7 but then just couldn't finish the match off", Bruns added.

"Overall, it was a disappointing meet. We just didn't compete with a team I thought we should be able to compete with. Denison played very well and deserve a lot of credit. We need to improve a lot in order to get where we need to be a month from now. We will continue to work hard to do so, Bruns said.
