HCHS Boy's Tennis Defeat TJ 9-0

The HCHS boy's tennis team hosted Thomas Jefferson(Council Bluffs) on Tuesday, April 5. The Cyclones won the meet 9-0 and also won the JV meet 4-2. The Cyclones are now 2-1 on the season.

"It was great to see everyone win in both singles and doubles today," Coach Chad Bruns said."It was a tough day to play as it was very windy but everyone overcame the wind and played well. This win will help build confidence for all our players. We are now moving into the heart of the Hawkeye 10 season and it's going to get tougher for us so we need to just keep working hard to improve with each meet."

Varsity Singles:

#1 Isaac Stitz won 8-4 over Cole Hounbarger

#2 Alec Plagman won 9-7 over Joseph Thach

#3 Michael Rueschenberg won 8-5 over Dan Krueger

#4 Josh Cheek won 8-1 over Alandre Starks

#5 Nolan Heese won 8-3 over Tyler Belt

#6 Kaleb Kaster won 8-3 over Nik Talent


Varsity Doubles:

#1 Isaac Stitz/Alec Plagman won 9-7 over Hounbarger/Krueger

#2 Michael Rueschenberg/Nolan Heese won 8-0 over Thach/Tallent

#3 Josh Cheek/Kaleb Kaster won 8-0 over Starks/Belt


JV Singles:

Eric Rivera won 6-2 over Jayden Steele
Joey Fields lost 5-7 0-6 to Alex Lakei
Jack Buman won 6-4 over Ryan Wooloncrotz
Brian Hanson lost 1-6 to Dylan Beltran

JV Doubles:

Rivera/Fields won 7-5 to Steele/Lakei
Buman/Hanson won 6-3 over Wooloncrotz/Tim Ginn
